    Mihails Savrasovs has been awarded a PhD in 2013 by Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI). Currently, he is working as an elected associate professor and leading researcher, also he is holding the position of the Vice-Rector for Academic & Research. Primary area of interests – information systems development and integration processes. For many years he had a position of system analyst in a big international company. Under this position, he got experience and skills in developing own software solutions and integration of the 3rd party information systems (ERP, WMS, SCM, etc). He is a certified specialist in Microsoft technologies and for the last years completed several online courses from IBM - Applied Data Science with Python, Big Data, Spark, etc.

  • 🤖 Welcome to Elements of AI 🤖

    • Elements of AI is a massive open online course (MOOC) teaching the basics of artificial intelligence. The course, originally launched in 2018, is designed and organized by the University of Helsinki and technology company Reaktor. 

      The course includes modules on machine learning, neural networks, the philosophy of artificial intelligence, and using artificial intelligence to solve problems. It consists of two parts: 

      • Introduction to AI 
      • Building AI. 

      The course has been ranked the number one artificial intelligence course in the world on Class Central and Forbes. In 2019, the course won the global grand price in the Inclusive Innovation Challenge by MIT, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • 🧭 How officially join the Elements of AI to get the credit points at TSI? 🧭

    • Transport and Telecommunication Institute(TSI) has validated the proposed online course and awards the 2 credit points (Latvian Credit Points) for successful completion of the course Elements of AI as an elective course (Block C).

      To get credit points you should follow the procedure (all steps are obligatory):

      1. Explore the course content and requirements. Make a decision if you wish to have it as an elective. If YES please proceed with the next steps, if NO see you next time.
      2. Log in to TSI internal system for students -https://my.tsi.lv/login
      3. Select the course Elements of AI as an elective course. If the course is not on the list, refer to the Study Department of TSI
      4. Use the provided keyword to enrol yourself into the course (you will have the ability to upload deliverables)
      5. Open https://www.elementsofai.com/ and make a registration for the online course. Please note, that you should use the same Name and Surname as indicated in the TSI system. Nicknames will not be accepted by TSI. 
      6. ⚠️ Do not forget to put a checkmark, that you would like to have credit points (ECTS).
      7. Complete BOTH parts of the course. 
      8. Submit course completion evidence (see deadlines below)

  • 🔎 What should be completed and how I will be graded? 🔎

    • Both parts of the online course should be completed by you to get credit points from TSI.


    • The final grade for the course will be calculated as follows:

      Final grade = 0.3*(Part 1) * 0.7 (Part 2)

    • ⚠️ Part 2: Building AI has several levels of complexity. For your study programme, it is recommended to complete exercises for the Basic level. 

      Completion of the exercises with a higher level, do not provide you with any advantages in terms of grade. But of course, you will become a guru in AI 🦾!

    • To get the grade and credit points you need to provide evidence of online course completion.
